Valerie (who speaks fluent English) provides a wonderful breakfast of home made fare, in a pretty room overlooking the sweeping drive. (This year I found out that the fireplace is original to the house, made from Caen stone).
If you’re looking for a quiet break in a beautiful setting, thighs will suit you very well. And if you can’t bear to leave the world behind during your stay, free wi-fi is provided.

Traumhafte Tage in der Süd-Normandie.
Die Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich (und spricht sehr gut englisch!). Sie hat uns prima Tipps gegeben. Das Anwesen ist einfach wunderschön und top gepflegt. Zum Frühstück wurden alle Wünsche erfüllt. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet und sauber.

A perfect ending to our French vacation
Although we wish that we could have stayed longer, instead of just a short stop at the end of our vacation, La Verrerie du Gast was the perfect place to rest. Our hosts, Valérie and Pascal, were also extremely helpful. We arrived late due to a long day at Puy du Fou and were hungry (at almost 10pm), but they managed to get us a reservation at a lovely, local restaurant. The house is beautifully decorated, too. The beds were so comfortable that my son declared that it was like sleeping in his own bed. And breakfast the next morning was the best of our vacation, with a stunning array of homemade preserves and flan, local cheese and more. And one of the best things was being greeted by the three sweet dogs on the property. All of us enjoyed their company! This was a perfect stay and we hope to be back next year. Do not miss a chance to visit La Verrerie du Gast!

🙂 Just fantastic location, remote but the sat nav took us straight there. House superb, Valerie lovely and speaks fluent English. Breakfast delicious and varied, all home cooked. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!
🙁 Closer to Cherbourg so we could have enjoyed it longer.

J’ai séjourné dans le gîte avec ma famille de 3 personnes et 2 autres familles. Nous étions un total de 6 adultes et 4 enfants et c’était l’endroit idéal pour nous, avec suffisamment de chambres pour chacun d’entre nous, chaque famille pouvait avoir une salle de bain et nous pouvions cuisiner et dîner dans la grande salle à manger. Les enfants ont beaucoup aimé l’endroit, ils peuvent courir et jouer dans les jardins sans danger, ils ont vraiment aimé les chiens, les chevaux et ont tellement apprécié la promenade en calèche offerte par les propriétaires!

とても温かく迎えていただきました。朝食も心のこもった手作りで、味も素晴らしかったです。部屋からの景色が最高でした（写真）。敷地を出るとすぐに散歩道があります（写真）。都会の喧騒を忘れて気分よく過ごすことができました。現地のことをよく知らない人のために、事前にレストランがすぐ近くにないことが言及されていると助かります。車で13 kmほど北東へ行くと、Séesという比較的大きな街があります（写真掲載）。食事や買い物はそこが便利かもしれません。

Valerie was so welcoming. We had a lovely room with a super shower ensuite. The breakfast was incredible – so much thought had gone into it. Everything homemade and eggs from their hens – in fact the best breakfast of our whole stay in France.

We stayed for one night on the way to Bourgueil and were so impressed with the beautiful house, lovely rooms and fabulous breakfast. Our hostess was welcoming and friendly, and chatted to us over breakfast about the interesting history of the house. I would highly recommend a stay here, sitting looking out over the gorgeous surroundings made for a lovely and tranquil experience.

It’s not a criticism of the accommodation but it’s several miles from any sort of restaurant or bar. However, if the weather is good, plan ahead and take a picnic and eat it in the beautiful grounds.

We werden zeer vriendelijk onthaald door de sympathieke eigenares Valerie. Het huis is prachtig gelegen in een natuurgebied, we zagen reeëen en een jong hert. Na heerlijk geslapen te hebben in een confortabel bed , kregen we een heerlijk ontbijt. Eitjes, zelfgemaakte confituur. Yoghurt met huisgemaakte mirabellenmoes. Valerie gaf ons zeer goede tips over bezienswaardigheden in de streek. Zo ontdekten we het wondermooie kasteel van Carrouge… Zeker aan te raden

A historic property in a beautiful setting.
Our hostess was wonderful. We had a very nice stay with a beautiful breakfast and excellent conversation. We would definitely stay here again. The property is set in a very rural area next to the forest and is a very quite retreat. The property surrounds are beautiful.
There was nothing to dislike.

a night in a former Manoir
We felt as though we were in the ‘lap of luxury’. This establishment is well worth the extra money. We were told the house was a former ‘manoir’ and it felt very grand. Our hosts gave us tea and crepes on arrival, most welcome after a very full day of forest walking on the GR36. The bedroom was wonderfully spacious and comfortable, the bathroom a place to pamper oneself. Because the property is in a very rural situation we asked if our hosts could provide an evening meal. The answer was that they would be quite happy to fetch a pre-ordered ‘take -away’ meal from a restaurant in the nearest town. When that did not materialise because it was a public holiday, our hosts provided the meal themselves and we are really grateful to them for providing a sumptuous meal ‘en famille’. The breakfast was first rate and again reflected the recognisable high grade of the establishment

The setting is beautiful, with a sweeping driveway that takes you through well kept lawns to the front of the breathtaking house. Valerie is the perfect hostess, often providing a special welcome – this year it was a glass of cider on the lawn.
The three bedrooms that make up the Chambres d’Hôtes are all individually furnished and contain lovely pieces of old French furniture. This year, we noticed that amenities in our room had been improved still further, with hanging space added in the wardrobe and an additional bench at the foot of the bed.
There are always tea and coffee facilities in the room and often a small plate of homemade biscuits if Valerie has been baking.
The breakfasts are delightful. Home made dishes and preserves all prettily laid out in a stunning room at the front of the house.
We just keep on going back because it’s all so lovely!
